Phi Kappa Psi emphasizes physical fitness as a goal during a young man's time in college. The national organization gives an annual William Henry Letterman Men's Health recognition to the chapter that best excels in these areas. The Texas Tech chapter provides plenty of opportunity for both casual and organized athletics and physical recreation.

The Phi Psi lodge has good athletic facilities for casual use including an excellent sand volleyball court, half basketball court, putting green, horseshoe court. washers apparatus, billiards table, foosball table, and croquet (it's fratty). These facilities get a lot of use by the brothers and their guests.

Texas Tech has an intramural athletic program that is organized into two fraternity leagues to provide equitable and enjoyable competition among fraternities of similar sizes. The Black League contains the largest fraternities, generally over about 80 members, and the Red League contains the moderate and smaller size fraternities. As would be expected the skill levels of the participants of the two leagues overlaps greatly.  In some sports the players in the Red League may be better than those in the Black League. At the end of the year there are playoffs between the winners of the two leagues in some sports to establish an All Greek Champion. In addition, within either league a fraternity can field more than one team, such as an "A Team," a "B Team," and a "C Team."

Phi Psi participates, and wins in many of the sports. Spring 2008 we were the Red Division Softball Champions.

Fall 2007 we were All-Greek Soccer Champions (outdoor), and in the Red Division our Marc Zachrau was Table Tennis Champion two years running, and Hunter Schmidt was 2007-2008 Tennis Champion.
In the Spring 2006 we won second overall our division and in 2005 we won our division soccer championship.

We field multiple teams in many sports so brothers can participate regardless of their skill level, and the best players have a good chance of being on a championship team. We participate in all available sports, which include

  • Tennis
  • Sand Volleyball
  • Golf
  • Flag Football
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Bowling
  • Racquetball
  • Indoor Soccer
  • Softball
